Zuiderzeemuseum Enkhuizen - Collection Aquisition
Every object has a story. Some have simply been forgotten.
Invited by the Zuiderzeemuseum in Enkhuizen to engage with their heritage collection, we found ourselves in a vast archive of hundreds of objects once used by the former inhabitants of the Zuiderzee region. Too many to document fully, they sit numbered and stored in the historic village of the museum, waiting for someone to ask about them.
It was that anonymity that moved us. We selected the nine most compelling objects and placed each one inside a specially designed light, arranged together as a trophy cabinet within a larger cabinet. No names, no captions. Only registration numbers, because the story should be yours to tell.
Alongside the cabinet, we designed a wallpaper on which visitors could draw their own most treasured object. No questions asked.
