It was early 2021. The world was closed, the garden was covered in snow, and our view hadn't changed in weeks. So we built somewhere else.

In a series of remote design sessions, a place emerged. Warm, unhurried, with a beach, a drink, beautiful furniture, and tall waving palm trees inviting you to stay a little longer. From everything that imagined place had to offer, we took the palm tree and set about turning it into an object. Not an easy task. The palm tree carries so much with it. Decades of pop culture, layers of symbolism, an image so familiar it risks saying nothing at all.

So we approached it differently. At Kranen/Gille, the whole must always be greater than the sum of its parts. LaPalma is our answer to that challenge and our postcard from a place we needed to believe in.
