When the renowned Milanese gallery Dilmos approached us to create a series of special pieces for Salone del Mobile and Design Miami Basel, we found our way to an unlikely starting point: the Maunsell sea forts.
Rising from the water on clusters of stilted steel legs, connected by narrow catwalks and built with an absolute indifference to elegance, these structures represent brutalism at its most uncompromising. No concession to beauty. No apology for mass or weight. Just steel, purpose, and the kind of raw honesty that most architecture spends its entire life trying to achieve.
That tension between brutal form and quiet presence became the foundation for a series of interior objects that translate the language of maritime steel construction into something made to live with. Industrial in origin. Inevitable in form.
