Faces Of Jingdezhen

Taoxichuan Art Center, Jingdezhen

At the invitation of the Taoxichuan Art Center in Jingdezhen, we stepped into one of the oldest ceramic traditions on earth, working in the shadow of the imperial kiln alongside craftspeople who have spent their lives perfecting techniques the rest of the world has spent centuries admiring.

We didn't arrive with a plan. We arrived with curiosity. Diving into glazing and hand-painting, we let the material lead, using our Faces aesthetic as a canvas and the ancient as a collaborator.

Most of what emerged stayed in Jingdezhen, acquired for the permanent collection of the Art Center. A few pieces made the journey home.
