Islands

Dilmos Milano

2011

We always collect images and atmospheres that arouse our interest in the beauty of their decay. One of our favourites is the Maunsell Seaforts at the mouth of the Thames.

Once built for war purposes, the forts are now abandoned as silent witnesses of industrial growth in wartime. No matter how brutal the origin, when gallery Dilmos approached us for a project during Salone Del Mobile 2011 we decided to reflect the feeling of these forts in a number of ‘islands’. Made of steel, glass and wood, and provided with camouflaged drawers, these objects form a safe haven in the interior.
